This is one of my favorite photos. Maybe it was the emotion it evoked during the shot. We were driving home after a long week of not seeing much wildlife. This guy all of sudden walked in front of my car. I sat and watched him as he was hunting for voles. Coyotes always seem to pop up when you least expect them.
I got stopped by a cop for taking this photo. I pulled over on the top of bridge in order to get this shot. You got to what you got to do.
The main thing I remember of this photo is how loud their calls were. It was on a small pond with hundreds of males looking for that special lady.
I have mixed feeling about this photo. On one hand, it is a very beautiful place. On the other hand, this is where my friend almost rolled off the mountain. We went down a 4x4 track that has not been maintained. The road was so washed out that one section was not passable. Fortunately we were able to winch out my buddies truck. Moral of the story, do your research before you dive into the unknown.
I like to take photos of nature in their natural state. However, sometimes it’s fun to create a separate feeling then what the actual moment presented.
Pyramid Lake is one of many lakes around Jasper National Park. It is extremely easy to get to and offers some spectacular views. A must see.
Aspens are some of the coolest trees in North America. Their leaves can be lime green in the spring and change a fire orange in the fall. They are a photographies paradise.
Until I visited Canada in the fall, I had no idea what a Larch Tree was. They are actually a conifer tree that loses their leaves. They are quite a spectacle in the fall. Their leaves turn bright yellow in the fall and then shed in the winter. Thank you Katie Goldie for the active pose.
Some of the coolest finds in Colorado are the abandoned mines in the mountains. It is always hard to believe that people were able to haul all of that material up the mountain without any vehicles.
I was walking around during rut and noticed this huge bull just walking through the trees behind me. Luckily he was more worried about the females instead of me.
Southeast Texas does not offer spectacular mountain views. However, they have some of the best wetlands. I always love it when I am on trip to photograph a specific subject and the environment presents me with a whole new subject I did not expect.
I would challenge everyone to visit Rocky Mountain National Park in the winter. There are some breathe taking hikes that are not populated at all. This is just a taste of what you can find.
Sam Houston National Forest is a great place to get away. It is massive and every time I went there it was not crowded. Great place to escape the big city of Houston.
If you like high alpine fly fishing, Crater Lakes is a must visit. This was one my best fishing trips to date.
I love going west of Crested Butte during the fall season. Every year I go, I tend to find a new area that still amazes me.

The one thing I learned about this photo is that always try to get a new perspective of an iconic shot. In order to get this perspective my friend, Geoff Reid, climbed a tree and told me I had to get this shot. So I did, and what a view.

It seems like everywhere you go in the Smokies you will you always find an amazing water feature.
I spent more than an hour chasing this little guy around. Finally he decided to stop in an area with great sunlight, patience is key.
I was waiting on top of Big Sky after the lifts shut down. I tried to convince the ski patrol to let me stay a little longer. Luckily they had other concerns at the moment and let me get the shot.

Our original camping spot was not as good as I expected. So we ended up driving around found some mini badlands in the middle of Wyoming.
This trail is heavily trafficked with tourist, but worth it anyway. Gorgeous views.

I grew up in Texas and never lived around foxes. This was my first encounter and what a memorable one. This little guy would not leave me alone. He was super curious and i actually had to zoom out to get it into frame.

Chimney Tops is a fairly easy hike in the smoky mountain national park. The reward at the end is definitely worth it.
Fun Fact, snowy egrets have bright yellow feet. They shake their feet under water to attract fish.
This waterfall is one of many waterfalls in North Carolina that is right of the road. Worth a visit.
Kebler Pass is one of the best drives to do in Colorado during the fall. The views are outstanding! My goal is to hike to “the Castles” in the distance.
Great Sand Dunes National Park offers some unique experience. One of the best places to do some star gazing.
I wouldn’t recommend it, but I am always looking around while I am driving in the back country. This cascade was right off the road, thought Id capture.
This plant growth reminded me of Grut from Guardians of the Galaxy. IT was kind of crazy. It was in the middle of the wall we were climbing that day. No other plants around, pretty amazing on where plants can take root.
The Smokys is a magical place. I always cant help myself to imagine I am in Fern Guly while I am there.
Photography is all about timing. This little guy did not care at all because he had a massive feast ahead of him.
The Canadian Rockies have a completely different look than the Colorado Rockies. They are much more peaky and seem to jump out of nowhere. Beautiful Country.

Pika are crucial to the natural alarm system in the mountains. They let everything around them know if there is any danger nearby, which in this case, was me.
I was extremely nervous taking this shot. Mother moose tend to be really aggressive around there children. To make matters worse, there was a Male in full rut chasing her. intense moment.
Nice 3 mile hike, and certainly worth it. North Carolina is certainly the land of the waterfalls.
I tended to take for granted how beautiful my home was growing up. Now looking back I had a pretty awesome childhood. Any kid that gets a chance to climb trees like this one would have a good time.
Crystal Lake is just south of Breckinridge. It was one of my first off-road tracks I did with my new vehicle. Extremely rewarding at the top.

These woodpeckers where one of the first species that was protected under the endangered species act. I found this pair in Sam Houston National Forest. Quite amazing to see them in the wild.
I caught about 20, four inch trout out of this stream. Great time.
I saw more bear in the Grand Tetons than I did at Yellowstone. so if you want to see bear I would recommend the Grand Tetons over Yellowstone.
I love spring. When the snow is melting and the ice is thawing. Time of growth.
What more can I say, Colorado offers some of the best fall foliage in the country.
Its quite fun to play with the different sand dune peaks and light. The great sand dune national park is a hidden gem. A must visit.
These guys have some of the most impressive camouflage techniques. They are usually in high swamp grass or reeds. They straighten their body out to resemble the reeds. Unfortunately for this guy I saw him in the short grass.
Maroon Bells have got to be one of the most photographed peaks in Colorado. I thought I would try to get a new perspective on them.
One thing I love about mountains is that you can see for miles when you are on top of them.
I drove up there at night and had no idea what kind of views I was going to encounter in the morning. Worth it.
The Tetons have a completely different look than the Colorado Rockies, they remind me of Canadian Rockies quite a bit.
So my brothers and I would explore the creek on our land growing up. I remember one time we found a small game trail through the brush and crawled through it. We cam up on a clearing and found these big damselflies fluttering around everywhere. Even though I was just a kid, I still remember discovering these guys.
Easy hike in Yellowstone national park. Definitely worth it.
We went to Wyoming to view the total eclipse. We had no plans of where we would camp. We ended up stumbling across this BLM land that had unique rock formations. Perfect alien landscape to view the eclipse
One thing I did not realize before visiting Yellowstone is that it has hundreds of waterfalls. Pretty neat.
This was my first encounter with a porcupine. Extremely pleasant actually they are super timid and mind their own business. Beautiful creature.
I sat on the boulder field with this guy for about an hour. He did not mind me at all. It seemed to me that he was building his nest up for the winter.
I have been all over the united states and I have seen Great Blue Herons on every body of water you can imagine. For being such a big bird they are quite hard to sneak up on.

One of the best thing about camping in the middle of nowhere is the lack of light pollution. The stairs are sometimes truly spectacular.

I have seen quite a bit of mountain goats while hiking, but not this close. I was actually scared for a minute, because one of the males decided to remind me I was getting to close.

Kingsnakes have got to be some of the coolest snakes. Their main diet is other snakes! I bet you can guess what this guy is eating right now.
